OU Kosher Advisory Leroux Liqueurs

Following the acquisition of the Leroux liqueur brand by Phillips Distilling Company, Leroux liqueurs will no longer be certified by the Orthodox Union and will not bear the OU symbol.

Weis Markets Issues an Allergy Alert for Weis Quality Premium Brownie Moose Tracks Ice Cream Due to Undeclared Egg Allergen

August 30, 2023 - from the FDA

Weis Markets Inc. of Sunbury, PA today said it is recalling containers of Weis Quality Brownie Moose Tracks Ice Cream (48oz) because the product may contain undeclared EGG. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to EGG run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

Product was distributed to all 197 Weis Markets’ retail stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia.

The ice cream is packaged in a round container with a UPC of 041497-01194. All sell by dates are included in the recall as a precaution. Sell by dates are located on the bottom of the container. An example of the container and lid has been included with this release.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product may contain trace amounts of EGG due to processing on shared equipment in error.

Customers who have purchased this product may return the product to the store it was purchased for a full refund.

Customers requiring additional information may contact Weis Customer Service at 1-866-999-9347 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm EST.

August 9, 2023 from the FDA:

Real Kosher Ice Cream of Brooklyn, NY is recalling soft serve on the go ice cream and sorbet cups, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

SOFT SERVE ON THE GO CUPS were distributed in the states of CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, IL, MA, MD, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, VA, WV.

The recalled product reached consumers through Canteens, Grocery and Convenience stores etc.

The recalled product is packaged in an 8 fl oz., clear plastic cup. The product looks like a soft serve cup served in an ice cream store, with a clear plastic cover with a seal and spoon attached to it.

The product brand name is Soft Serve On The Go cups, All flavors, UPC (SEE LIST)

The UPC is the only identifiable code on the package. It does not have any LOT number or best by date. All product produced up to 8/4/23 is being recalled.

To date, two cases of illness have been reported in this outbreak in two states (NY and PA). Both individuals were hospitalized but no deaths have been reported to date.

The recall is the result of an individual becoming ill and reporting to have eaten this product. Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture tested samples of product and one sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

Consumers should discontinue consumption of the product immediately. Please dispose of this product or return to your store of purchase for full credit.
