Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) of New Ulm, Minn., in cooperation with Gordon Food Service (GFS), is recalling pudding labeled as GFS Lemon Pudding but contains vanilla pudding. Milk is an ingredient in this vanilla pudding. GFS Lemon Pudding does not declare milk on the label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The following product is affected:
GFS Lemon Pudding (113 ounce cans) with UPC Number 9390110676 and Lot # 3T12354C printed on the end of the can. These cans would be found in shipping cases labeled GFS Vanilla Pudding with Lot # 3T12354C printed on the outside of the case.
Only GFS Lemon Pudding cans with Lot # 3T12354C are affected by this recall. The recalled product was distributed in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that some cans labeled as lemon pudding contained vanilla pudding. Rio Queen Citrus, Inc. of Mission, TX is recalling 840 cartons of 12/1 Dry Pints of Mexican cherry tomatoes in "Karol" brand boxes, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The "Karol" cherry tomatoes were distributed through retail stores in the states of Texas & South Carolina.
The product was originally distributed in a bulk container of 12/1 Dry Pints in boxes labeled “Karol” with the Lot No. “01W45” stamped in the upper, right-hand corner on the face of the box. The box states “Distributed by Interstate Fruit & Vegetable”, which is an affiliated business of Rio Queen Citrus, Inc. These packages were distributed at the retail level between November 10th & November 19th, 2012. At the retail level, the tomatoes may have been packaged in an alternative container depending on the area and retailer.
The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by FDA revealed the presence of Salmonella in a sample taken from the product, identified by Lot No. “01W45.”
Consumers who have purchased Mexican cherry tomatoes in the listed states are asked to contact their retail store or place of purchase to determine if they were among the facilities to receive this product. Omya Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain lots of food grade ground limestone products processed at its Superior, Arizona plant because of the possible presence of Salmonella. There have been no reports of any illnesses or adverse health effects associated with any of Omya’s food grade ground limestone products. Although an investigation is still ongoing, Omya is recalling specific lots of Omya-Cal FG-4 AZ, Omya-Cal FG-10 AZ and Omya-Cal FG-15 AZ in the U.S. as a precaution. Omya’s voluntary recall is being conducted in consultation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Omya’s food grade ground limestone products were sold to distributors and/or manufacturers as ingredients for further processing in the U.S. The food grade products were not distributed for retail sale to consumers. Omya is diligently investigating the possible problem and implemented additional precautionary food safety measures.
