The following Passover alert is from Rabbinical Council of New England on March 12, 2013.
The Rabbinical Council of New England has found though chemical testing that some Green and White Tea from China contain traces of gluten (chometz). This contaimination was from either packing on equipment used for chometz or starch being sprayed on the tea to facilitate drying. Samples of tea from major brands were sent for gluten testing and half were found to contain gluten.
"While this does indicate a reasonable chance of contamination, from a Halachic perspective, the tea may still be permissible for consumption during Pesach due to Bitul, as the amounts of gluten detected were minuscule."
