The following Passover alert is from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate for Sephardim on January 31, 2005.
Cumin resembles Shibolet ShuAl ( spelt? - one of the 5 types
of grains). Any product spiced with cumin has to be specially inspected by someone who knows how to tell it apart from spelt.
After removing the cumin, soak it for 35 minutes, then dry it and grind it.
All inspections have to be done by certified people.
All of the above deals with using cumin as a spice for Pesach.
