Hy-Vee, Inc., based in West Des Moines, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread out of an abundance of caution due to the potential for contamination with Salmonella.
These products are manufactured at different third-party facilities around the Midwest and are sold under HyVee’s private label and bulk packaging programs. The manufacturers of these products notified Hy-Vee of the potential issue and out of an abundance of caution Hy-Vee is voluntarily recalling these specific products. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of any of these products.
The affected products were distributed to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market locations – as well as Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores – across the company’s eight-state region of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The recalled products are labeled as outlined below.
No other varieties of Hy-Vee Cream Cheese or bulk-packaged items are affected by this voluntary recall.

UBC Food Distributors in Dearborn Michigan is recalling the Ground Black Pepper under the Baraka brand name in 7oz plastic containers 7oz * 10 With UPC code 8 22514 26626 6 because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recalled "black pepper" were distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The product comes in a 7 ounce, clear plastic package marked with expiration date of January 2026 on the back of the label.
The potential for contamination was noted after the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) notified us of the contamination based on a routine state surveillance sample collected by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets that tested positive for Salmonella the presence of Salmonella in some 7 ounce packages of Ground Black Pepper.
Consumers who have purchased 7-ounce container of ground black pepper are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 313-846-8117 Monday to Friday between 9 am to 5 pm.

"Abundant Life Gluten Free mixes are being recalled because they contain gluten that is not declared on the product label as required by law. Anyone who is allergic to gluten or who has celiac disease could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. This recall was posted on the FDA’s Enforcement Reports page, and not the regular recall page, so there is no mention about whether or not any adverse reactions have been reported to the company to date. The recalling firm is BooKoo Foods LLC of Lancaster, Virginia.
"These products were distributed to a distribution center in Minnesota and also in Washington state. You can see the long list of recalled products, along with the package size, manufacturer lot number, and UPC number at the FDA web site.
"The recalled products are all Abundant Life brand. They include Abundant Life Foods brand Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix, Gluten Free Basic Muffin Mix, Gluten Free Fudge Brownie Mix, Gluten Free Assorted Muffin Mix, and Gluten Free Butter Vanilla Icing Mix, among others.
"If you purchased any of these items and you cannot consume gluten, do not eat them. You can throw these products away in a secure trash can, or you can take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.

Hannaford Supermarkets is recalling its private brand Indulgent Trail Mix sold at select stores in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts due to mislabeling.
The 12 oz. packages of Indulgent Trail Mix, purchased between November 1, 2023 and June 3, 2024, may be missing the “tree nut allergen (almonds)” specification on its label. The sell-by date is October 1, 2024.

Fresh Start Produce Sales Inc. of Delray, Florida, is recalling whole cucumbers shipped to certain states from May 17th through May 21st, 2024, due to the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recalled cucumbers were shipped in bulk cartons from May 17th through May 21st, 2024, directly to retail distribution centers, wholesalers, and food service distributors in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The recalled cucumbers are dark green, approximately 1.5 - 2.0 inches in diameter, and 5-9 inches long. Mini cucumbers and English cucumbers are not included in this recall.
The recall was initiated after the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture informed the company that a product sample tested positive for the bacteria. The FDA is conducting whole genome sequencing to determine if this sample is related to an ongoing Salmonella outbreak investigation.
CONSUMER ACTIONS: Although these cucumbers are unlikely in the marketplace, anyone with the recalled product should not consume it and should destroy and discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers should check with their retailer or place of purchase to determine whether the recalled cucumbers were sold where they shop.

The STAR-D Dairy symbol appearing on the labels of: Sugar Cones, Waffle Cones, Waffle Bowls and Pretzel Cones, is an indication that they were produced on Dairy Non-Cholov Yisroel equipment. The formulas for these products have not changed.
Joy brand Cake Cones and Gluten Free Cake Cones will remain STAR-K certified Pareve.
