Editor's Food. Safety Alert: Consumers need to be aware that the kashered liver is not cooked, and must be cooked before consuming to prevent illness. In 2011 "there were quite a few cases of due to Salmonella bacteria-related illness in New York City that are linked to eating MealMart brand kosher broiled chicken livers from the Schreiber Processing Corporation that were not cooked.
