The following health alert is from the FDA on November 27, 2006.
Krisp-Pak Company, Inc., Norfolk, VA is voluntarily recalling all lots of Krisp-Pak Brand packaged fresh cut fruit with expiration dates on or before 11/30/06, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The product comes in plastic containers in 4 ounce cups, 8 ounce cups, 1 pound cups, 3 pound tubs, 10" trays (2.5 pounds) and 13" trays (4.5 pounds) for retail suppliers. The products being voluntarily recalled include individually packaged fruit which may contain cantaloupe, honeydew, red grapes, pineapple, watermelon or strawberries. The voluntary recall is limited to these products only. The voluntarily recalled fresh cut fruit was distributed in the Hampton Roads and Richmond, VA areas through retail stores. Consumers who have purchased Krisp-Pak Brand fresh cut fruit are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Krisp-Pak at 1-800-755-0746.
